Morning Curlers Host Monomoy High School

On Friday November 8, 2025 the Club hosted a group of students from Monomoy High School in Harwich.  The visit was coordinated by Chelsea Cunningham, a wellness teacher at Monomoy Regional High School of Harwich, MA, and Peter Mili, our Vice President.  Our guests, including students with mild to moderate disabilities, are enrolled in a Lifetime Activities course that is a Health & Physical Education elective that teaches various physical activities for lifelong fitness and wellness, that includes a floor curling unit.

The students arrived and watched our Morning Curlers, enthusiastically cheering them on, which was heard out on the ice.  They gave the curlers a roaring round of applause as they entered the warm room at the end of their games.

Thanks to Eileen Sullivan, Billy Sullivan, Chris Hawksworth, Kristen Karplus, Bob Tenant,  Alice Jamal, and Barbara Sheerin, who all volunteered as coaches, the students were able to experience curling on our ice.   Can you think of a better coaching staff to guide these young people?   The coaches and the students had a great time.  The coaches noted afterward how  enthusiastic, excited, cooperative, respectful, and how kind and helpful they were to each other, especially those who were challenged out there one way or another.   What a credit to the school community and our curling community !!

Thanks again to all our volunteers.
