The Slider Teams repeated their 2024 decisive victory over the Sticker Teams, scoring 141 points compared to the Stickers 108 points.
The Fantasy Curling competition, brought to us by club bookie Bill Gallagher, saw its usual see-saw of top finishers during the spiel, and at the end the winner was Rich Lousararian, whose team also scored the most points in the Fantasy Curling event.
Michael White and Bill Gallagher chaired the event, supported by last year’s chairs Joanna Schaffer and Peter Mili, with the assistance of volunteers from the Tuesday and Thursday 4pm leagues. Lauren Klienas and her team of talented volunteer chefs prepared a delicious chicken dinner Friday for participants, and Saturday’s lunch featuring Cubano sandwiches, was prepared by Tiffany Persechini and her team of talented volunteer chefs. Gratitude goes out to all of the above, not to mention all the members of the ice crew who volunteered for this event, and Bob Klienrath who led the game prep volunteers.
So what is beneath the domination of the Sliders in this event? Could it be related to the recently revealed ‘Secret Syndicates’ ? Sources have discovered a ‘Project Bragging Rights 2025’ document, indicating it was no accident that the culinary teams were led by ‘Sliders’, the spouses of the chairs are ‘Sliders’, the game prep pebbler was a ‘Sliders’ , and the change to later draw times Friday night was orchestrated by the ‘Slider Syndicate’, all with planned advantages for the sliding curlers. Rumor has it that the ‘Sticker Syndicate’ infiltrated both culinary teams with one of their best to guard against any slider advantages and to spice up the menus with ‘secret sticker sauces’, but there was no evidence of that, and obviously unsuccessful. Can the ‘Sticker Syndicate” put an end to their teams ‘slide’ in 2026? Tune in next year to find out..
The Mac Jones Sticks v Sliders Bonspiel dates back to 2008 when Leonard (Mac) Jones proposed an annual bonspiel that would pit stick curlers against slide curlers at the Cape Cod Curling Club. After Mac passed away in 2011, the Board of Directors unanimously voted to rename the Sticks vs. Sliders Bonspiel the “Mac Jones Sticks Vs. Sliders Bonspiel”. Pat Jones, Mac’s daughter, enjoys participating in this fun event for club members, and expressed her gratitude to all who keep it going and volunteer for its success.
As always, all participants had a great time, were well nourished for the competition, and look forward to next year’s event.
Good Curling
